Staycations have never looked better thanks to the plethora of urban "beaches" popping up along the Thames. Royal Victoria Beach is just over the river from the O2 Centre, and boasts a man-made sandy beach along the calm waters of Royal Victoria Dock. Here you'll find a fully licensed bar called The Shack and a watersports centre with a number of activities for those feeling adventurous.
One is stand-up paddleboarding, which is a little like surfing but without the waves, while wakeboarding is not dissimilar to water skiing, except you're pulled by a cable system rather than a motor boat. Then there is paddleboard pilates and yoga, and what could be more exciting than practising your asanas on a surfboard on the water?
