Where: Baptist at L'oscar Hotel
At the beginning of the 20th century the building housing boutique hotel L'oscar was home to the UK headquarters of the American Baptist Church. Features like the ornate tiling, fireplaces and intricately carved plaster ceilings remain from the period, but the designers have certainly turned up the luxury factor by fitting enough embroidery and Lalique glass sculptures to be practically worthy of Louis XIV himself. The Baptist Grill is located in the former chapel, which has a domed glass ceiling, plush purple velvet seating and moody dark panelling, earning it most atmospheric restaurant opening of 2018.
