Where: Black Rock
You'd be forgiven for thinking that good old fashioned whisky had fallen out of favour, being replaced by gin and its hundreds of flavourings, craft beer and heaven forbid, wine in cans. But the team at Black Rock are doing a good job of reversing this with their East London basement bar, ground floor Japanese-style tavern, blending room and a soon-to-open whisky-themed hotel.
Cocktails, drams and snacks are on offer at both the chic bars, while the blending room offers three-hour masterclasses culminating in a task for attendees to create their very own blend. The hotel opens later this year, inspired by Japanese capsule hotels and naturally, each room will contain a whisky minibar.
