Following the critical and popular success of The Good Neighbour in 2012, Battersea Arts Centre’s magical, interactive show for 6-11 year olds and their families returns this Christmas.

There are long-forgotten mysteries lurking behind every creaking door of Battersea’s old town hall. Cobwebs cling to hidden doorways and secret passages, and from these forgotten and dusty places an adventure is waiting to burst out and take over the building.

George Neighbour has lived at Battersea Arts Centre all his life and knows it like the back of his hand, but now he needs your help to uncover the mystery of his lost memory. Join him on a thrilling dash through the building, jumping in and out of magical worlds where curious characters all have their own incredible tale to tell. Children are encouraged to explore and take part so energetic adventurers don’t have to sit still.

The Good Neighbour has been developed in collaboration with a host of cutting-edge artists such as Bryony Kimmings, Abi Conway, Kirsty Harris and Sheila Ghelani, who have worked with Battersea Arts Centre to transform our building into an immersive and stimulating theatre environment for children and adults alike.

This year, there will also be a bespoke, adult only Good Neighbour journey for immersive theatre lovers who just can’t bear to miss out. For the most part, the audience will experience a similar journey around our building, but they will also visit a secret new room that will enrich their experience as an adult, adding a new dimension to the story of George Neighbour.

Parents are welcome to accompany their children on the mission but are also welcome to leave them with us for the duration of this fully supervised performance and relax in our family friendly café, (newly re-opened as Scratch Bar), while they enjoy an unforgettable adventure. Younger children aged 0-5 can play in our magical indoor play space, The Bee's Knees, accompanied by their carers. Delicious and seasonal meals will be served before every show for the whole family to enjoy together. These meals are available to book along with tickets for the production.
