Hailing from Wimborne, Dorset, Roo Panes will be playing at Bush Hall to celebrate the release of his new five-track EP ‘Land of the Living’, released on December 2nd through CRC Music.

Blending rich melodies with his warm, enveloping vocals, Roo’s songwriting process is raw and natural; the lyrics to lead track ‘Land of the Living’ came to him in a dream and ‘Little Giant’ was written within a few minutes.

Roo’s musical education came in part from his grandmother, a classical concert pianist and the hymns of his local church and in part from his parents’ collection of Nick Drake and Bob Dylan records. Unsurprisingly, his surroundings have a strong influence on Roo as well. Like many of his favourite romantic poets before him, he effortlessly stitches the sense of beauty, landscape and space into his songs.

Having quietly released two EPs last year including the acclaimed ‘Weight Of Your World’, Roo is currently working on his debut album – due early 2014. He has been expanding his sound and has added strings, harmoniums and all matter of acoustic rarities to his repertoire.

Less quietly, Roo was the face for Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 campaign – shot by Mario Testino, Roo additionally wrote and recorded a song exclusively for it.

Armed with a strong talent for well-crafted songs, Roo is not your standard singer-songwriter; the ‘Land of the Living’ showcases a captivating artist with resonance that will go from strength to strength.
