Berwick Street Launches First Christmas Market

Soho’s iconic Berwick Street will be transformed for Christmas 2013, as a number of new unique traders have been hand picked to create the first ever Berwick Street Christmas Market.

The already vibrant and diverse market will see the arrival of new seasonal fresh produce, gifts, crafts and fashion. Experience the new concepts, unique shopping and dining experiences that the one-off independent brands are bringing to Berwick Street’s Christmas Market.

The Dark Knights of Cholesterol – Selling artisan, unpasteurised cheeses from independent rural producers, they specialise in the best of British farmhouse cheese which will be perfect for the Christmas cheeseboard.

Chai Me – The ultimate chai, a blend of cloves, star anise, fresh ginger, cinnamon and green cardamon are infused with their specially sourced Sri Lankan tea and organic milk. Londoners are famous for loving tea in all its forms and you can’t beat a hot, spicy chai on a cold winter’s day.

Smit & Sinclair – Cocktail flavoured sweets served in the speakeasy style. Inspired by the prohibition era where moonshine alcohol was concealed within bags of candy. The stall has a bar set-up, so customers can create their own alcoholic cocktail candy flavours, with advice from the resident mixologist. Smith & Sinclair has also created an exclusive Christmas range.

Gourmet Hot Chocolate – Specialist hot chocolate and iced hot chocolate artists use 100% Cacao; organic, zero cholesterol, solid chocolate sourced from Columbian producers. Delicious flavours include hazelnut, fudge, Ferrero Rocher and Baileys as well as a chocolate fountain with fruit and marshmallow skewers.

Milo Harley – A brand new addition to the market specialising in vintage Ralph Lauren clothing for men.

Agua Na Boca – A food stall with a difference, Agua Na Boca sells Brazillian delicacies such as Salgadinhos, Brigadeiros and Churros from a tricycle.

Jim and Norman’s Fruit Stall – One of the market’s longest standing stalls will be offering Christmas vegetable bags, a limited edition Berwick Street tote bag filled with all the essentials for the big day including sprouts, potatoes, parsnips and more.

Berwick Street Market is an iconic part of London’s heritage and was established in the 1770s when shopkeepers displayed their wares on the pavements, and it quickly earned its reputation for selling a bewildering variety of fruit and vegetables. In the 1880s, Berwick Street was the first market in the UK where you could buy tomatoes and grapefruit. The freshest fruit and vegetables can still be brought at stalls on the street, from everyday lunchtime necessities like apples and bananas to the hottest chilli in the world, the Naga chilli. On weekdays Berwick Street Market is a must-visit for foodies, the street food market is constantly evolving and produces superstars for the culinary world such as Pizza Pilgrims, Freebird Burrito, Scotchtails, Savage Salads and Jerusalem Falafel. The market is open from the early morning and always fast paced and bustling, selling cakes, street food, artisan bread, fresh flowers and more.

Berwick Street is a vibrant and diverse community in the heart of London’s Soho. Discover vinyl shops, traditional London pubs, bespoke tailoring, colourful textile shops, vintage clothing, original restaurants, coffee shops and independent fashion boutiques.

Berwick Street is London for Londoners.
