Trudy Kerr is renowned as one of the UK’s top jazz vocalists, regularly selling out shows at prestigious venues and festivals around Europe and her native Australia. With 9 widely acclaimed albums to her name (and a 10th soon to be released) and a successful vocal teaching career, she is one of the scene’s busiest singers. Primarily performing gorgeous mainstream jazz with a bias towards bop, her highly skilled, nimble voice is a real pleasure to hear. Trudy’s Special Guest this evening is the internationally acclaimed saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, undoubtedly one of this country’s finest modern jazz sax players who has worked with the likes of Cleo Laine & John Dankworth, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Jimmy Smith and Annie Lennox. A multi-award-winner, he has produced 10 albums to date of his own work and appeared on numerous sessions and at festivals around the world. He leads a variety of different bands, from his Big(ish) band through collaborations with US sax star Eric Alexander to work with the “Jazzcotech Dancers”. Dave is also a respected jazz educator including work at Leeds College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and the Universities of Natal and Cape Town. With an incredible band including Tom Cawley (Acoustic Ladyland, Curios) on piano and Geoff Gascoyne (Jamie Cullum, Georgie Fame) on bass this gig is highly recommended.

“Trudy Kerr has moved to the front rank of UK singers” Musician Magazine
