December’s Story Jam sparks, crackles and roars with wintery tales. We’ve got a night of delights for you – stories, music, candlelight, and a warm welcome at the bar. Bring your friends, raise a glass or two, sit back and be whirled away…

FROM BULGARIA WITH LOVE : Shining Tales for Dark Nights with A SPELL IN TIME

Welcome to a magical world of dangerous delights where shapes shift and dragons dwell. In a landscape strewn with white stones and bloody bones, a mother makes a dreadful promise, a girl sets out to escape her fate, and from out of the forest comes a stag with the sun on its forehead, the moon on its breast and the stars upon its back. Interweaving storytelling, ritual and evocative music, unique British-Bulgarian company A SPELL IN TIME presents deliciously dark tales and shining seasonal blessings from the primal and poetic heart of Bulgarian myth and folklore.

THE PIGEON’S PRINCES with LUCY LILL

Even the mangiest of vermin deserves a cuddle. Just remember: never kiss and tell.

Exciting new talent on the story-telling circuit, Lucy’s been a triumphant 5 Minute Challenger in the past. Now she’s back with a longer tale to help us Londoners look at our feathery neighbours afresh… Lucy is currently collecting a cache of stories from around the globe. Warm, sharp and full of laughs, she’s a shot of The Good Stuff – don’t miss her.

And on the subject of THE FIVE MINUTE CHALLENGE… we bring to you the brave and brilliant BECKIE LEACH

Beckie Leach, Hostess of Shake Your Tailfeathers story nights, cuts to the chase with this month’s famous tale told upside down and inside out in 300 seconds flat. Stop-watches at the ready, please, as a single mum undertakes an epic quest to fend for her family. Upending stereotypes, she travels through the heavens battling overgrown plants, chickens and raucous musical instruments. Can she do it? On your marks, get set, tell!

And we’re delighted to annouce that Monooka will be stoking our fires with her Romanian gyspy music.

We can hardly wait!

£7/£6 (concs) on the door from 6.30pm. (You can reserve tickets in advance by contacting us)

Drinking and eating are our second and third favourite things. Come early and feast, or come in with a piece of cake and a glass of something to warm your cockles. Buy your Story Jam ticket and take it to the bar to claim 10% off all the delicious food from Canvas & Cream.

C&C suggest you book your food before 6.30pm to eat before the stories start at 7.30pm. Or book your meal for the interval and have it all piping hot and ready for you.
