Theatre Royal Stratford East presents a new production of Oh What a Lovely War in its 50th anniversary year to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

Built upon the songs that ordinary British soldiers sang during a war that killed ten million in four years this Musical Entertainment production is a powerful comment against war.

Oh What Lovely War was first performed at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 1963 and was an immediate hit, transferring to the West End in June 1963 and opening on Broadway in 1964 and received four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.

Now, with an ensemble cast including Caroline Quentin and a world-class creative team led by Terry Johnson and Lez Brotherston, this important production will remain true to the spirit of the original whilst being recreated to resonate with modern audiences.
