1 in 7 of us will experience some kind of deafness in our lifetime. So what would happen to the music you love, if your hearing was lost?
Made by a partially deaf filmmaker after the future of her own hearing was called into doubt, Lost and Sound is a moving and fascinating documentary that follows music critic Nick Coleman, dancer Emily Thornton and pianist Holly Loach over 2 years, as they journey deep into sound and silence to re-discover music after deafness.
The evening will feature a screening of Lost and Sound, followed by a Q&A session with a member of the film production team and leading experts from the field of hearing research.
Joining us for a discussion after the film will be:
Professor Brian Moore FRS FMedSci, Professor of Auditory Perception, University of Cambridge
Nick Coleman, music critic and star of Lost & Sound
Dr Geoff Watts FMedSci, science writer and medical journalist
+ special guests
Doors open from 7pm. The screening will begin at 7.30pm, and the Q&A should begin at around 8.45pm.
