Broomball time at Broadgate Ice Rink

For all those City workers seeking a bit of an adrenalin rush after New Year, Broadgate is hosting Broomball nights at their open-air ice rink in the heart of the City of London.

Broomball is a recreational ice game originating in Canada and played around the world. It is traditionally played in an ice hockey rink, and is a similar to the game but without the skates. Players wear trainers, helmets and lots of padding to help break their falls as they slide on the ice.

Broomball has become an established annual event at Broadgate Ice Rink. The game revolves around players hitting a small ball around the ice with a stick called a broom. It is played with two teams, each consisting of up to six players, one being in goal, plus a few subs. The object of the game is to score more goals than your opponent. Goals are scored by hitting the ball into your opponent's net using your broom.

Broomball tournaments will be held on Tuesday 11 February 7-10pm and Tuesday 25 February 7-10pm.
