Scan Artists
by Evan Placey
Directed by Emma Baggot

When faced with the 'Big C', how do a group of teenagers seek to define themselves beyond the label of their illness?

That's the question asked by award-winning playwright, Evan Placey, in his new play, Scan Artists. This new piece of work, presented by The Bridge Theatre Company, (students of the renowned BRIT School), explores the reality of young people living with cancer, breaking taboos and addressing the impact this devastating illness has on the lives of countless young people across the UK.

The group meets weekly. They’re meant to share their feelings. They’re meant to sing. They’re meant to talk about the chemo. But they really just want to party. A comedy-drama about losing your inhibitions and losing your hair.

Evan’s plays include the award-winning Mother of Home (for stage and BBC Radio 3), Holloway Jones (Synergy Theatre/Unicorn Theatre, Brian Way Award for Best Play for Young People), Girls Like That (Birmingham REP/ Plymouth Theatre Royal/ West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Pronoun (National Theatre Connections).

Scan Artists is a new play presented by The Bridge Theatre Company, a group of young actors based at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Their work has previously been performed at the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe, at the Southwark Playhouse and Theatre 503, and has also toured internationally.

This production contains strong language and sexual references.
