INISFÁIL – The Island of Destiny
Performance storytelling, by Clare Muireann Murphy
When the ancient Irish gods stepped onto the soil of Ireland, they burned their boats so they could never leave…
Clare Muireann Murphy invites us into a beautiful yet bloodstained landscape where gods in golden halls drink from the cow of plenty, Kings are healed by children, fathers vie with sons and lusty monsters spit in the face of the prophets. Gods fight with gods; one-eyed giants make their bid for power, and finally we humans – the Celts – armed with iron, step into the fray…

This contemporary performance of the Irish myths of invasion is tautly laced with wit and verve. Join the Crick Crack Club for an evening of Irish craic, giant warriors, jealous kings and limb loss at the Soho Theatre.

CLARE MUIREANN MURPHY can’t help but make friends with her audiences…it’s just the way she is. Born in Dublin, Clare has lived in Spain, America and Galway, and currently resides in London. A dynamic and witty performer, she has performed in festivals and theatres across the world, and her repertoire extends from her beloved Irish mythology to world folklore, anecdotes, fables, personal and original stories. claremurphy.org
