Together with Robert Hood and "Mad" Mike Banks, Jeff Mills founded Underground Resistance in 1992, and his own label, Axis Records, a year previously. Through both collectives, Mills produced, released and championed a tough, celestial strain of Detroit techno that has become synonymous with the city's modern musical heritage. Moving to New York in 1992, Mills left UR to concentrate on his solo career, and has since DJed all over the world: from Krakow to São Paolo, Tokyo to Tel Aviv.

Today as comfortable performing in art galleries and concert halls as dark nightclubs, Mills has long transcended the status of a techno DJ. He's a global icon, a modern cultural monolith, and, depending on who you believe, an extra terrestrial Afrofuturist prophet. Extra-planetary or not, Mills is one of the most influential figures in dance music history, the ideal man to headline a special New Year's Day event.

He's joined by Radio Slave, who as a DJ, producer and label owner has played a key role in London then Berlin's underground music development. His label, Rekids, has released material from the likes of Nina Kraviz and Mr G, while his own productions have featured on Running Back and Ostgut Ton. Russian Dasha Rush rounds out the bill with a live performance. Specialising in misty, left of centre techno, Rush is one of the most in demand performers of the past few years, particularly since her latest album 'Sleepstep' released in June to universal acclaim.
