One and All is an innovative voyage through sight, sound and sea, with three leading artists – Martyn Ware, Owen Sheers and Tania Kovats. Working with 3D sound, poetry and art, their specially created pieces recognise and celebrate our powerful emotional and personal connection with the beautiful British coast.

One and All honours 50 years of the National Trust’s Neptune Campaign, which has helped to fund the acquisition and care of 775 miles of coastline. Commissioned by Trust New Art, the National Trust’s contemporary arts programme, and Sound UK, One and All takes inspiration from this important work to create an evocative journey through our amazing coastline both online and on site at Somerset House.

This immersive coastal journey can be experienced at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/oneandall where visitors to the website are invited to explore a virtual coastal experience and discover the work of each commissioned artist. Alternatively, they can experience the translation of this digital project in the real world at Somerset House’s River Rooms overlooking the River Thames.

Set within a boardwalk, the unique and atmospheric staging of these digital artworks invites visitors to explore our relationship with the sea and embark on a coastal walk in the heart of London. In collaboration with film-maker Ben Wrigley, the exhibition will feature hand processed films, large scale projections, 3D sound installations, and a specially commissioned tidal bell. And the journey extends beyond the exhibition rooms, as Martyn Ware’s unmissable bright blue beach hut – a quintessentially British icon – can be found on the River Terrace.
