The annual Swedenborg Birthday Lecture will be taking place on the afternoon of Saturday 23 January 2016.

The event will open with a preview screening of Jacob Cartwright & Nick Jordan's new short film Last Acre (11 mins), a documentary portrait centred on a remote settlement of self-built shed and cabin homes, located on the sand dunes of England’s north west coastline, near Barrow-in-Furness.

Followed by a panel discussion featuring Devin Zuber, Assistant Professor of American Studies, Literature and Swedenborgian Studies at the Pacific School of Religion (Berkeley, CA); the academic and poet Ian Hunt, who is Lecturer in Fine Art, Critical Studies at Goldsmiths University; and the author Ken Worpole, Emeritus Professor at London Metropolitan University, with whom we recently published New Jerusalem: the good city and the good society.

The afternoon will herald the theme for our programme next year, which is Topographies and there will be discussion of the influence of Swedenborg and Swedenborgianism on environmentalism, architecture and town planning.

Refreshments will be avalible throughout the event.
