About the event

The London Pantomime Horse Race, dubbed one of the world’s wackiest annual events, have set its sights in making the 2018 ‘Race Day’ event, their biggest & thoroughly daftest ever event, held in its 9-year history. Featuring over 30 costumed nags, dressed in the style of iconic Film & TV characters, Panto-Horse teams must navigate various pit-stops and unexpected obstacles during the quarter mile street race.

Before the 1pm race, the fun gets underway at 11am with ‘The Pre-Race Ceremony’ show at Devonport House King William Walk, Greenwich. The Free public event, hosted by former CBeebies TV Presenter & Actress, Sarah-Jane Honeywell, features special guest appearances and live music performances including X-Factor star, Honey G plus the UK ’s leading Taylor Swift tribute act, Katy Ellis will be live on stage. Renowned dance troupe performers, from the ‘Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School, will open the show with a stunning film & TV-themed dance performance.

The pre-race show then takes a slightly surreal turn with a Father Themed edition of the annual parody Panto Horse Dance-off contest, ‘Strictly Neigh Dancing’.5 Panto Horse teams, dressed as characters Father Ted, Bishop Brennan, Father Dougal, Mrs. Doyle & Father Jack, will battle it out on the dance floor in a quest to be crowned 2018 Strictly Neigh Dancing champion. Special guest celebrity judges include former Hollyoaks star ‘Ayden Callaghan’ & X-Factor’s ‘Honey G’. Fans of Father Ted will also be treated to the sight of 2 familiar looking priests, performing a much-loved song about a lovely Horse, during the ‘Strictly’ performance.

The pre-race show also takes on a Monty Python element, with the appearance of King Arthur, and the Knights of the Round Table, AKA ‘The Python Knights’ who will be escorting the Panto Horse Team races in the grounds with a fun-filled street procession, taking place before the 1pm race starts.,

Honey G officially launches the 2018 London Pantomime horse Race. The film & TV character themed costumed race from Devonport House, and finish at Royal Hill, but not before refuelling at 6 pub ‘pit stops’ along the quarter-mile route. The best 5 performing Horse Teams, will then be chosen to race on to the finish line, via Space Hoppers. The team first past the winning line will be greeted by Honey and will be crowned the 2018 London Pantomime Horse Race Champion. However, the fun does not end there.

‘The After-Race show’, hosted by US Comedian Lewis Shaffer, begins after the race has finished, from 2:30pm onwards and features an extended live song performance from X-Factor star, Honey G. The fun continues with a fun Monty Python song tribute show called ‘Singalot’. With guest singers, performing their favourite Monty Python songs. ‘Taylor Swift’ fans will be treated to a ‘greatest hits’ show, courtesy of leading Taylor Swift tribute performer Katy Ellis. The ‘After-Race show continues on with Kirsty Newton’s ‘Poptastic’ piano singalong show’,

The London Pantomime Horse Race ‘race-day’ events are in support of ‘YOUCAN--Youth Cancer Support’. ‘The charity provides ongoing support and care services to children and young adults, impacted by cancer.
