Poplar Union will be hosting a night of rhythm and tap! Fresh from Brazil Tap Festival, Michèle Drees Jazz Tap Project, featuring Junior Laniyan and Scott Cripps, will bring together some of UK's finest jazz musicians alongside incredible rhythm tap dancers. With new music, spectacular tap improvisations and choreographies, this night will evoke the vibrancy of legendary tap dancers Chuck Green, Gregory Hines and Jimmy Slyde.

Michèle has performed with the world’s greatest tap masters, including Jason Samuels Smith, Andrew Nemr, Michelle Dorrance, Heather Cornell, Lee How and Lisa La Touche and has performed on world-renowned stages such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s and numerous others as part of jazz festivals around the world.

As a drummer, she has worked with artists across a wide variety of genres such as Marc Almond, Kirsty MacColl, Seal, Badmarsh and Shri, Ive Mendes, KD Lang, Susanne Vega, Candy Dulfer, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin, and Jean Toussaint to name but a few.

“Fusing drumming with some pretty fancy footwork, drummer Michèle Drees is at the forefront of a revolutionary new style of entertainment.” Andy Hughes, Drummer Magazine

“Michèle Drees Jazz Tap Project has shown the passion, energy and excitement of the younger generation of tap dancers is as strong as ever.” Drummer Magazine (Southbank review)
