Maya Beiser: New York Cello

“Cello goddess” (The New Yorker) Maya Beiser will perform a concert of works written for her by New York composers and long-time collaborators as part of Cello Unwrapped, Kings Place's year-long celebration of the cello. Works include Steve Reich’s Cello Counterpoint, Golijov’s Mariel, David Lang’s world to come, and the UK premieres of Michael Gordon’s All Vows and Julia Wolfe’s Emunah. A trailblazing cellist and multifaceted performing artist, Maya has shaken the main stream music scene, collaborating with cutting edge artists and experimenting with the use of technology and multimedia to create a new and startling voice never heard before.
