Within walls the archaeology of magical house protection

Brian Hoggard has been researching the artefacts relating to magical house protection since the 1990s. In this talk he will discuss the various objects which reveal just how widespread these beliefs and practices were. Objects such as concealed shoes, witch-bottles, written charms, horse skulls and dried cats were all concealed in buildings stretching back to the 17th century and beyond. Marks were also carved onto surfaces in buildings for the same protective reasons.

Come along and share your own discoveries too!
