Wayne Parsons Dance presents Vestige and Meeting. A night not to be missed by this emerging company led by established artist Wayne Parsons.

Vestige

Think about famous women like Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse and Sylvia Plath. How do we experience these women today? We know these women through the memories of people they met and the stories they share. Vestige is based on the life of a fictional celebrity named Livia. Her memory is kept alive in the stories told by those who knew her, but which version of Livia is to be believed? Touching on celebrity culture, gossip and our obsession with wanting to know those in the limelight, Vestige could not be more timely as we reflect on the high-profile losses of 2016.

Meeting

Last seen at Big Dance 2016 and the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition, Meeting explores the contextual nature of memory as two dancers find tender moments through recalling their shared past. This compelling duet features a commissioned score by Composer Angus MacRae.

Created through support from:

East London Dance, Arts Council England, RichMix, DanceEast, English National Ballet, The Place, Akademi and Cambridge Junction.

Collaborators include:

Writer: Ankur Bahl (RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe, DV8)
Dramaturg: Pooja Ghai (Associate Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East)
Set and Costume Designer: Nikolai Hart-Hansen
Lighting Designer: Doug Currie
Sound Designer: Angus MacRae
Performers: Katie Lusby (Punchdrunk, Gecko), Ian Garside (DV8), Sonia Cullingford (Punchdrunk, Protein), Sarah Baltzinger (Compagnie Totum, Compagnie Mirage)
