Step into Spring with cult hit makers, The Blockheads, at Islington’s O2 Academy.

With a career spanning almost four decades and still going strong, touring and recording as we speak, The Blockheads have definitely been around the block! Their first tour with Elvis Costello in 1978 shot the band into the limelight and they released their first single, the classic, “Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll”. The unlikely hit, as it was banned by the BBC (although still promoted by the legend, John Peel), soon became NME’s single of the week, gaining it much acclaim. The band went on to release further huge hits, including “Reasons to be Cheerful”, “What a Waste” and perhaps their best known hit, “Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick”, which went straight to number one upon it’s release.

With a reputation as one of the best live new wave bands around, still impressing crowds around the world, they’re not to be missed.
