Lost in the Shadows is Matthew Tate’s breakout solo exhibition, and showcases a collection of his work so far. Matthew is a recent graduate of Norwich University of the Arts where he read for a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration and received a First-Class Honours in 2015. He has been Artist in Residence at King Edwards School Witley for the past two years.

Lost in the Shadows as a theme explores the idea of storytelling and symbolism within art. The symbolism within the images tells stories and narratives of secret dialogues that occur between people. Using Gothic as a style the images explore these stories with atmosphere and mystery for you to interpret the secrets in the images. Lost in the Shadows will feature artwork in the three mediums of illustration, printmaking and photography.

Matthew Tate invites you to leave no stone unturned; to look behind the surface of these images and find where the true meanings exist, all lost within the shadows.
