‘In Iona Macdonald’s singing resides a loveliness that cannot be taught’ Rolling Stone, Germany

‘[Paul Tasker] is one of the guitarists of his generation’ Maverick Magazine

Glasgow’s Doghouse Roses (Iona Macdonald and Paul Tasker), once more present their unique take on contemporary folk and reaffirm that they are ‘Something a little bit special’ (The List) with the release of their long-awaited third studio album ‘Lost is Not Losing’.

Following on from the release of ‘Lost Is Not Losing’ at the end of November 2016, the ‘alt-folk’ duo prepare for their first UK tour since 2011. 2016 was a busy year for the duo with appearances at ‘Southern Fried’ festival, opening for cult rock band ‘Television’ in Glasgow and Manchester, the release of the new album followed by a German tour

2014 saw an unexpected invitation to open for Television that brought Doghouse Roses back to the stage for the first time in almost 2 years. In 2012, after 5 years of near constant touring, writing and recording the duo decided to take an indefinite break, but the chance to open for Television was too good to turn down. During rehearsals there was a realisation that both had been unintentionally writing songs destined for the duo, and once the new songs were seasoned with the progressive fingerpicking of Tasker’s guitar and the impelling vocal delivery of Macdonald, recording became the inevitable next step. Whilst the almost constant comparisons to Sandy Denny and Bert Jansch might leave some to expect yet another attempt at recreating the folk revival of the 1960’s, the colours on display here are contemporary reflections.

Touring with Doghouse Roses on all dates will be the highly prolific German based, American songwriter, Joseph Parsons and guitarist Freddi Lubbitz. Parsons recently released his 18th studio album “the Field, The Forest’ on Blue Rose Records and this is rare opportunity to catch him live in the UK..
