Cabinets of curiosities were encyclopaedic collections of objects - the forerunner of museum collections.

The cabinet of curiosity was seen as a microcosm, a theatre of the world and was often a wonderfully eclectic range objects.

For London Craft Week, jaggedart will display its own cabinet of curiosities, a wonderful selection of diverse works of art including:

Charlotte Hodes ‘s intricate papercuts and ceramic sets of tableware

A limited collection of spectacular rings, brooches and necklaces by Brazilian ceramic installation artist Valéria Nascimento exquisitely combines wood, silver and porcelain. Each unique piece is presented in a porcelaint base, so it becomes an artwork when not worn.

Jeremy May’s unique pieces of dramatic jewellery, cut, layered and painted from pages of old books, are nestled in the book from whence it came.

Inspired by the rich woodland surrounding his birthplace, Kazuhito Takadoi grows and hand picks grasses and twigs from his garden, sowing each blade through the paper, creating organic 3 dimensional opulent yet minimal shapes.

Jude Tucker's stone sculptures depict organic shapes that celebrate the ephemeral beauty of nature, translating them into an immutable form.

Lucas Ferreira: small hand crafted fragments of ceramic are joined together to form abstract woven textiles.

Juliet and Jamie Gutch’s wooden mobiles are in perfect balance, they glance past each other, always intending to, but never touching.
