1963 Gallery is taking over East London’s 5th Base Gallery from 13th - 20th April 2017 to mark the beginning of a new chapter with Victims of Circumstance, a solo exhibition featuring an unseen and brand new body of work by artist Wasp Elder.

Wasp Elder paints canvases populated by enigmatic souls and unstressed backgrounds, enticing a sentiment of an obscure journey — his drawings, paintings and films present an evocative combination of solitary figures, collaged scenes, close-ups, obscured features, and potential catastrophe.

Following the departure from their first permanent space in Dalston, 1963 Gallery will be taking over different spaces across London in the coming months to pursue the original vision of being a constantly moving gallery.

Victims of Circumstance opens on Thursday 13th April 2017 from 6pm - 9pm at 5th Base Gallery (23 Heneage Street, E1 5LJ) and will run until 20th April 2017. Admission is free.
