Vivaldi Magnificat and Duruflé Requiem
City Chorus concerts are famously convivial evenings filled with family, friends and supporters of the choir. Please join us for refreshments in the interval and afterwards. Don't miss this sensational evening.
The Duruflé Requiem is probably the most famous of his relatively few compositions. Duruflé (1902 – 1986) was a leading French organist and teacher of the twentieth century. Completed in 1947, the Requiem was heavily influenced by Gregorian chant, which formed the basis for another piece he was working on at the time. The Plainsong chant brings a calmness and serenity which is rarely met in other contemporary pieces.
