Musicians from acclaimed chamber orchestra L'Offerta Musicale return to London for a special Easter performance of Haydn's Seven Last Utterances of Christ.

This soulful and hauntingly beautiful piece has seven movements. Each evokes one of the seven final utterances of Christ on the cross, as recorded in the Biblical gospels. Measured and stately, the seven movements are framed by faster introduction and final 'Earthquake' movements.

Adapted for string quartet by the composer in 1787, The Seven Last Words of Christ was originally commissioned for a Good Friday Service in Cadiz, Spain and was performed in a church completely robed in black apart from a single light lit in the sanctuary...
