2017 Preview:

The New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival (NXDfff) returns for a sixth year this spring, boasting a 31-film line-up across 20 local venues between 21 to 30 April 2017.

We launch the festival at the newly refurbished White Hart pub with a deliciously sweet sensory overload of film and music. Chef is about a head chef who quits his job, buys a food truck and sets out on a working trip across America.

This festival pays tribute to the late Gene Wilder with the beloved classic 1971 version of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. This open-air bike-powered screening takes us on a whirlwind tour of Willy’s incredible, edible realm of chocolate waterfalls, Oompa-Loompas and industrial-sized confections.

This year we will be taking the festival to the outer limits of Deptford with our second bike powered screening at Folkestone Gardens. Breaking Away is a great sports drama about bikes and growing up. If you're into sports movies, love riding bikes, or compete in bike racing, this event is for you.

Tarantino’s supremely confident debut feature Reservoir Dogs is 25 this year. A small story about a heist gone wrong became one of the most influential movies of the 90s. 25 years later the unique combination of blood lust and black humour still remains as shocking, perversely funny, and stylish as upon its original release. Dress as your favourite Dog for this blood spattered anniversary screening.

The Iphonography Masterclass shows you how to turn the humble smartphone into a cutting edge film camera. As well as tips and advice on how to make great films using your phone, there’ll be ideas and inspiration to get you started with the launch of My Lewisham challenge.
