The epic psychedelic folk scene of North & East London’s underground vibe is coming to city’s centre again on Friday 28 April. One of its leading artists, Djanan Turan, is hosting her second Hura Night at the The Library, a luscious members club in Covent Garden, after an outstanding launch on Friday 24 March.

Hura Nights (Arabic for ‘free woman’) is a monthly live music and DJ event featuring the vivacious singer-songwriter Djanan Turan and her incredible band. Friday night party-goers will be uplifted by their global beats once more and surf an exotic wave of disco, reggae, and trancey Anatolian rhythms.

Originally from Turkey, Djanan, a London-based musical chanteuse saw Hura Nights in a dream and took it as a sign to create a new night event paying tribute to free expression. A believer in the liberating power of music, Djanan enjoys blurring the boundaries between different genres and cultures, and brings the sounds of the Anatolian underground to central London for the first time ever. Her hard-hitting house band includes Alice Mary Williamson (the gorgeous clarinet enchantress), Al Maranca (bass & saz), Bubu (drums) and Fatih Ebrem (master of the famed wah wah guitar), collectively drawing on their Mediterranean and Middle Eastern roots melded with wider musical influences that are typical of their North London underground jams.

What’s more, Djanan is joined by special guests, DJs and performers each month. In addition to other surprise guests, Iranian sound artist, composer and radio broadcaster Fari Bradley will be on the decks to raise the roof with experimental dance music at the second Hura Night event.

And to top things off, entry to this monthly cultural extravaganza at The Library is free of charge. Admission into this intimate and exclusive venue is strictly by guest list, so book your place now! Email your name to [email protected] for free entry.
