With the music industry considered a male-dominated business, W London – Leicester Square invites guests to enjoy a dynamic and bold discussion from inspiring women in the industry, exploring issues including misogyny and the gender pay gap that remains prominent today. WHAT SHE SAID will be joined by Georgia ‘LA’, journalist and former resident DJ on Apple Music’s global DJ station, Beats1 Radio; Jane Kennedy, Director of Partnerships & Licensing at Modest! Management, known for working with world-renowned artists including Little Mix, One Direction and MNEK; and journalist Leonie Cooper, who has over the years interviewed music legends such as Patti Smith and Debbie Harry for NME.

The WHAT SHE SAID talk series launched in 2016 at W London with legendary designer and icon Diane von Furstenberg and is part of a global initiative from W Hotels that brings passionate and progressive women together. The events provide powerful women with a stage to share their personal stories, as well as encourage the audience to join the conversation, voice their views, mix, mingle and network in W’s unrestrictive surroundings.

Over the past year, the series, in collaboration with Badass Women’s Hour, has covered topics including politics and power; health and wellness; and love and sex. In addition to May’s focus on Women in Music, W London has announced an exciting line-up of inspiring WHAT SHE SAID summer talks in June and July, with discussions onSport Heroes and Style vs. Fashion respectively. Names already confirmed include Kate Dale (Sport England) and Sharmadean Reid (Entrepreneur and Founder of WAH Nails).

In this edition of WHAT SHE SAID, the specialist panel will be discussing:

Georgia ‘LA’: the gender pay gap in the industry and her personal story when working in a renowned radio station.

Leonie Cooper: the lack of female headliners seen on festival bills.

Jane Kennedy: the inequality in gender profiling and lack of stronger representation in the music industry.
