Part of our ongoing series of LGBTQ cinema, DEPARTURE is a mesmerising coming-of-age story set in the lush woodlands of southern France.
Teenager Elliot (Alex Lawther, The Imitation Game) and his mother Beatrice (Juliet Stevenson, Bend It Like Beckham) spend the last days of summer packing up their holiday home in tense silence, an ugly divorce looming unspoken over them. In the woods next to the house, Elliot meets handsome bad boy Clément (Phénix Brossard) and begins to work through the dawning of his own sexuality, just his mother figures out what it's like to walk alone for the first time.
