What does a cartoon television series, a pay-as-you-go platform for solar energy products and a reusable sanitary pads start-up have in common? These are just three of the 16 businesses currently working as part of the world’s first accelerator exclusively dedicated to challenging illiteracy across the globe. On Thursday 1st June 2017, these ventures are coming together at the Royal Institute of Great Britain, Mayfair for the very first Project Literacy Lab Summit to showcase their work.

As of this moment, 758 million people cannot read this sentence, and one in five children in the UK leave primary school without being able to read and write properly. The Project Literacy Lab Summit, created in partnership by education company Pearson, and Entrepreneur-incubator, Unreasonable Group will showcase some of the exciting and ground-breaking work being delivered in a bid to close the global literacy gap by 2030.

As part of the event actress and activist Lily Cole will also delivering a keynote speech. An ongoing supporter of Project Literacy, Lily will also being participating in a Q&A with members of the Project Literacy Lab.

Kicking-off at 3pm, this is guaranteed to be an engaging and though-provoking afternoon.
