Contemporary Painting: In Good Health unites artworks from the unique Paintings in Hospitals collection with those by award-winning members of Contemporary British Painting. The exhibition will be hosted at the Menier Gallery, London, during Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2017 (13-17 June).

Founded in 1959, the Paintings in Hospitals collection is the only art collection of its kind, with the sole purpose to inspire better health and wellbeing across the UK. Paintings in Hospitals has long taken pride in nurturing and supporting nascent painting talent. Some of the earliest artworks added to the collection were by then-emergent British painters such as Gillian Ayres, who has since become one of the leading abstract artists of her generation. Contemporary British Painting members represent some of the most exciting emerging and award-winning painting in the UK now.

The Contemporary Painting: In Good Health exhibition comments on the strength and vigour of British painting today. The 26 painters featured include: Basil Beattie, Ian Davenport, Mary Webb, Carol Rhodes, Cathy Lomax, Julian Trevelyan, Pen Dalton, Matthew Krishanu and Mandy Payne.
