About the event

Jordan Stephens, one half of the Rizzle Kicks and Star Wars: Rogue One actor, and the Young People’s Poet Laureate for London, Caleb Femi, are hosting their first ever photography exhibition on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2017 in East London at Space Studios, Mare Street in Hackney, London.

The free exhibition, called ‘Granite as Heirloom’ will be the first event by Stephens’ and Femi’s new venture ‘Bad Colour’ from their events arm ‘Bad Times’. The exhibition of portrait photographs deconstructs the young British Black face and aims to show another perspective to urban London by experiencing life through Caleb’s eyes.

Jordan Stephens, musician and actor, said: “I decided to co-host this photography exhibition after seeing how talented Caleb is behind the lens through his Instagram photographs and I’m really excited to launch our ‘Bad Colour’ movement with this our first ever portrait exhibition. Bad Colour brings together a number of extremely talented individuals such as Caleb and gives them an environment, platform and space for all their love and ideas. I am constantly taken aback by how talented my friends and family are and for years I've dreamt of being able to create this movement. I genuinely can't wait to explore the exhibition and let people see Caleb’s beautiful photography.”

Caleb Femi, Young People’s Poet Laureate of London, said: “Through ‘Granite as Heirloom’ which is my first photography exhibition I want to encourage the viewer to question their own gaze and how they perceive some British working-class and inner city cultures."
