Siberia, a vast region in Russia, is enveloped in mystery. With temperatures reaching -40 in winter, it is perceived as a vast plane eternally covered in snow. Come to Salt and Time: Stories from a Siberian Kitchen to discover the real Siberia through its food and personal accounts of cook and curator, Alissa Timoshkina. Born in Siberia in 1984 to a family of mixed ethnic backgrounds, Alissa came to the UK almost 20 years ago, and is now hosting and curating unique dining experiences around London. Best known for her cinema-supper club, KinoVino, Alissa also explores food and culture from her native Siberia in a series of popup dinners, entitled Salt and Time. Organised by SOOP, Stories on Our Plates, these two evenings will promise to enrich your cultural and gastronomic knowledge as well as fill your bellies with great food and drink, and your spirits with positive vibes. A beautiful summery menu will include, okroshka (a refreshing cold soup), a buckwheat tabouleh, courgette ‘caviar’ and spicy Soviet Korean salads, you can except delicious cocktails and a poppyseed cheesecake with berry-infused vodka to culminate the night on a high note!
