Taking place on the first weekend in July (1-2 2017), the programme spans opera, performance music and workshops and over 50% of the activity is free. Highlights for families include the English National Opera staging of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius (1-2 July) and Emily Peasgood’s Lifted, a lift-based cultural comment about the oversaturation of background music in daily life. Nordic choirs will perform pop ups and fill Southbank Centre throughout the festival, including Finland’s screaming men’s choir, Huutajat. The South Iceland Chamber Choir invite an audience to wander through their performance piece in Surrounded by Strangers. More information can be found here.
