It is 50 years since the UK abolished the criminalisation of homosexuality, but Britain's LGBTQ+ community continues to fight for a seat at the table.

'Gone Off' is an unabashed celebration and historical exploration of the queer club culture of the 1970's, it has been conceived to raise awareness around the diminishing footprint of London's LGBTQ-centric social scene, exploring how important these safe, nurturing spaces are to a community that has been, and continues to be, systematically marginalised.

Whilst the celebration of queer club culture from outside communities is widely embraced by the LGBTQ community TobyLikesMILK are focusing their efforts on preserving the authenticity of these precious venues by providing an insight into the evolution of queer club culture.

TobyLikesMILK have drawn inspiration from popular art forms within queer club culture, most specifically the eccentricities of vogue and drag, and combined it with the fluidity of contemporary dance to create this work. Liberty Antonia Sadler Smith, who's been a previous winner of the Lowe NOVA Award for "fresh creative talent" and whose films have been shown at AVIFF and altered|esthetics films festivals, is collaborating with TobyLikesMILK on this piece to bring a well rounded and factual narrative of the historical aspects of queer club culture as well as what the future holds for these iconic venues in London.
