The annual Bastille Day celebrations hosted at Borough Market will return on Sunday 9 July, marking the 10th anniversary of the festival in Bankside. Join us as we celebrate France’s national day in an atmosphere of love, friendship and togetherness with our French community. In light of the tragic events on 3 June, it is more important than ever that we show solidarity and support, and most of all celebrate culture and cuisine – which is what the Market does best.

London’s largest Bastille Day celebrations in Bankside, which take place in and around Borough Market in collaboration with Better Bankside and Français Du Monde, will include a host of festivities to keep all Francophiles entertained. Enjoy swing and rock ‘n’ roll classes, live French music bands, hula hoop performances, and of course, food from Borough Market’s stall holders showcasing some of the most loved products and dishes from France.

When: Midday until 6pm, Sunday 9th July
Where: In and around Borough Market, Bankside (Nearest tube: London Bridge)

Known as La Fête Nationale by our friends across the channel, Bastille Day falls on Friday 14 July, but the Bankside celebrations will take place on the previous Sunday enabling visitors to enjoy to the day to its fullest.

Food:
As you would expect at Borough Market, gastronomy will be central to the day’s French celebrations. French inspired food of every shape, size and delight will be on offer from Borough Market’s many stall holders. From red, white and blue macarons to crepes and croissants, the market will be bursting with traditional treats. There will also be a special French themed cookery session in the demonstration kitchen, hosted by chef Luke Robinson between 12.30 - 1.30pm and 2 - 3pm, when he will create a few French classics interpreted in his own contemporary style.

Entertainment:
Artists, musicians and performers will be entertaining throughout the day, including Oh La La and Fleur de Paris, filling Bankside with joie de vivre! The ever-popular Hula Hoop performance will be back, visitors can test their skill in a classic French game of pétanque, and children will be entertained by French nursery rhymes, dancing and story-telling.
