A darkly comic thriller with guts. If you like your stories with a twist and your characters beautifully twisted, then Dark Room is a must see at this year's Camden Fringe. In the basement of an ordinary house on an ordinary street, away from prying eyes, a group of extraordinary
people meet weekly to indulge their passion. When a newby arrives the membership are diverted from the regular squabbles. Desire is stoked and envy seethes. A project deadline approaches and the new recruit is
forced to make a permanent choice between light and shade.
Describing his new play, writer Jim Mannering said:
"I took a long hard look at some of the most unpalatable if fundamental human appetites and found the humour anyway. It's a play that I have honed for over a year through a number of development partnerships including Scene Gym at the Old Vic Workrooms, the Actors Centre and Player-Playwrights in Kilburn. It has evolved into a brutal, funny and surprising piece of theatre. We are in the company of deeply flawed characters who are nevertheless captivating. I'm sure the audience will be thinking about them and their story long after the final scene."
The audience is invited to let their curiosity get the better of them and to pull the curtain back on this nasty little club.
