JOHN OTWAY, rock ‘n’ roll’s self styled greatest failure, reveals all (or at least some) on July 19th when he is quizzed by TV presenter Steve Blacknell at London’s new N1 venue, The Islington.

A ‘Waffle Club Special’, the evening promises music and chat, scurrilous stories and details of the perilous path that’s been Otway’s peak and trough rise to stardom. Questions will be invited from the audience.

John Otway is renowned for his derring do and bizarrely successful career -despite self-confessed limited musical talent. His shows are always hugely entertaining and his band of 20 years remarkably good.

His latest venture, recording his new album on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, sees Otway in fine fettle delivering not only an excellent album but also an event no other rock star has achieved in over 25 years.

Otway is the only international artist to have recorded on the island since 1989 when the Rolling Stones made 'Steel Wheels' there. Hurricanes and a live volcano having reduced half the island to a modern day Pompeii, the rock elite had long since gone elsewhere. But Otway was undeterred.

Following in the illustrious steps of Dire Straits, Elton John, The Police, Status Quo and many others he knew that Montserrat was still THE place to record. Air Studios, however, had long since fallen into dereliction so he created a studio in the basement of Sir George Martin's house.

The new CD features 11 tracks in all ("10 are definitely hits" says Otway) and comes in vinyl, CD and special box set formats.
