How to Make a Home

They say a house is not a home... or is it? Home is where we live, but also what we make it to be; or where our hearts may lie. What happens when you’re faced with the prospect of relocating? How do you negotiate this change and how do you settle that nagging feeling that you’ve left a part of you behind? And what do you need to make your new house a home?
Through games and storytelling, How to Make a Home is a performative workshop that leads its participants through an interactive exploration, step by step, of how we create homes for ourselves, what happens when we move homes and what we need to make a house a home. These explorations will take participants on a journey, and when crisis hits, will force the community to negotiate how the story will end.

Tying into both local issues in East London and the global discussion about immigration, Art Lingual seeks to engage and immerse participants in questions about home, identity, and loss.
