Inspired by the likes of Fela Kuti, Ebo Taylor and Tony Allen, Kokoroko (meaning ‘be strong’ in Urhobo) are a young and dynamic afrobeat collective hailing from South London. Led by Sheila Maurice-Grey on trumpet, Kokoroko deliver an energetic display of jazz-infused Afrobeat and high-life, drawing upon the rich musical history of West Africa.
They specialise in a soul-shaking, horn-fueled sounds with West African roots and inner London hues.
