Create Jewellery from recycled plastics

Workshop description :
This workshop is all about how to form HDPE plastic waste into a desirable piece of fashion Jewellery for you to take home.
The aim is to start thinking about what we throw away and how we can use our waste to make new and exciting products.

What experience do I need?
The workshop is open to adults of any skill level with an interest in fashion and accessories. Any person with a consideration for new sustainable ideas is welcome. Everything will be provided on the day, just bring yourself and your creativity.

What you will be doing:
During this workshop you will gain an insight into some basic jewellery making techniques such as piercing out with a saw, filing and polishing to be able to create your own unique piece of fashion
Jewellery. Pre-moulded small blocks made from recycled milk and shampoo
bottles (HDPE) will be used with a variety of colour ways and patterns to choose from.

The outcome:
It’s up to you! Choose from creating a necklace, simple studs or some statement earrings complete with a gift pouch, great for a thoughtful present or for a eco treat for yourself.

Elisha Easterbrook is a designer based in East London specialising in recycled plastic material innovation. With the fashion industry being the second most polluting industry in the world, her work focuses on
improving sustainable practices in accessories. Her main goal was to search for a sustainable alternative for environmentally harmful resins frequently used in the industry, while also reducing the amount of plastics going to landfill. She creates unique patterns with re-used plastic bottles, which range from the luxe look of marble and stone textures, to more fun and colourful designs.
