About the event

Surviving Life (Theory and Practice) (2010) is the most recent of that great Czech surrealist and philosopher Jan Švankmajer. This was the tale of a middle-aged office clerk who escapes his humdrum everyday existence by retreating into dreams. Here he meets a mysterious woman in red who is far more tempting than his real world wife. Soon he's abandoning both his work and his spouse for her, though dream life - this being a Švankmajer film - rarely runs smoothly.

We will also run the Oscar winning short 'Neighbours' (1952) by Norman McLaren.

Come for the film, but stay for large group discussion on the film's meaning and themes. Ticket includes drink (incl wine) and snacks.
