In 1947, Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana, met Ruth Williams, a London office worker. They were the perfect match, yet their proposed marriage was opposed not only by their families but by both of their governments, against the backdrop of South Africa’s new policy of Apartheid.
This event includes a free post screening discussion about the film and its social context, sponsored by Harrow Mencap and chaired by music industry & history consultant Kwaku.
