Inter/sections hosts a Family Cryptoparty to highlight issues of privacy and security and to empower people from all ages and walks of life with the knowledge of how to manage their personal privacy and use encryption in a way that is relevant and useful to them.

There will be a hands-on workshop for kids (aged 6-12) where they can encode their own messages as well as four tables, each dedicated to explaining an aspect of privacy, and presenting tools for managing it. These are:

-What is identity theft, and how can I prevent it?
-What is online surveillance, and how can I manage my privacy?
-Who is affected by online harassment, and what can I do about it?
-What is personal data, and how can I protect it?

The aim of this event is to increase literacy around these issues of privacy, as well as awareness of practical tools and strategies.

Participants can also enjoy the exhibition of interactive artworks by the students of the Media and Arts Technology Programme at Queen Mary University as well as a special commission of new work by computer artist Will Hurt.

Please visit intersections.io for the details of our exhibition, workshops and the symposium updates.
Inter/sections is supported by the EPSRC+AHRC Media and Arts Technology CDT, Queen Mary University of London, and the EPSRC Digital Economy Network
