To celebrate World Coffee Day on Sunday 1st October, Julius Meinl, the Viennese coffee roaster, is launching its annual Meet With A Poem: a day to communicate with friends, family and significant others in their cafes across the nation.

In an attempt to banish superficial connections and bring people together, the initiative encourages people to meet up, enjoy a coffee together and use poetry to inject meaning and depth back into relationships.

Brits will be encouraged to choose from a range of poetry that best summarises how they feel. They’ll enjoy a complimentary coffee on Julius Meinl, and will be inspired to say the unsaid things to their loved ones via their chosen poem!

Internationally acclaimed poet and the first young people’s laureate for London, Caleb Femi is the campaign ambassador. Caleb entered the world of poetry with the aim of showcasing the power of spoken word and broaching difficult topics through his work.

“The reason why I started writing poetry was because I needed a space that allowed me to talk about things that scared me, that intrigued me, that amused me, things that made me vulnerable. The important things are usually the things left unsaid and poetry gives me the courage to say those things before it is too late. Meet With A Poem encourages us to look at what really matters, so join me this World Coffee Day!”
