This September, Greenwich Peninsula’s resident gallery, NOW Gallery, is delighted to announce ‘Steps’, a collaboration with inventive design duo, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay, who together form Raw Edges.

Working with Mass Concrete, Raw Edges have designed a cluster of concrete seats, creating a place for the public to sit, rest and enjoy the developing surroundings on the Peninsula. Known for incorporating vibrate colour in their witty and playful designs, Steps will demonstrate a simpler approach to Raw Edges’ previous projects as this time, the design duo work only with two colourways; white and green. The simplicity of the seating will both stand out from the contrasting concrete metropolis and blend into the surrounding verdant Peninsula gardens.

On 12th September, visitors to the Peninsula are invited to meet Raw Edges and encouraged to nest, dwell, play and relax on the white concrete armchairs on Peninsula Square. Pepe Ubera, London based dance artist and choreographer, will celebrate the seating with a new site-specific performance during the evening. Ubera will use this opportunity to explore how dance can highlight a particular space and its levels of attention. The choreography discloses itself as visual poetic moments and as situations for the audience to interact with the space and dream of new possibilities for public spaces in London.
