Classical music fused with electronica, free improvisation, dance, and live VJ.

Nostalgic, cinematic, electrifying, yet vulnerable. Pianist Belle Chen presents her latest work to-date – a beautiful and powerful recollection of Paris through the eyes of someone experiencing ‘saudade’ – a deep emotional state of missing someone with a repressed knowledge that the person will never return.

Using the Parisian soundscape as the foundation, Mademoiselle is a mesmerising melting pot of classical music, electronica, dance, and live visual projections.

Music from Satie, Ravel, Debussy, Chopin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, and Piazzolla are heard, re-imagined, and disintegrated through improvisation, soundscapes, and electronica to recreate the true essence of Chen’s Paris.

This live show is in collaboration with Iain Chambers (sound art), Anastasia Kostner (dance), Maarten van der Glas (VJ), and Dougal Lott (sound).

The UK premiere is in conjunction with the release of Chen’s same-titled album Mademoiselle.
